Our sorting volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that donated food is safe and ready for distribution. Tasks include:
- Inspecting food: Following guidelines from USDA, Health Department and Community Food Bank Food Safety, volunteers will check expiration dates and ensure items are in good condition amongst other requirements, before distributing to public
- Sorting food: Categorizing food items by type, sorting out any damaged or expired items
- Schedule: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday( refer below for days and times)
Requirements:
- Physical ability: Must be able to stand for at least 3-4 hours and lift/move up to 30 pounds
- Flexibility: Must be willing to work in a variety of conditions, including a walk-in cooler
Schedule :
Tuesdays have two shifts:
1st: 9:00am - 11:30pm
2nd: 11:30pm - 2:00pm
Wednesday and Friday :
9:00am - 12:00pm
