Volunteer: GV Pantry - Distribution

Pantry volunteers help neighbors loading carts with food, sanitizing the carts and other necessary task. Volunteer has to be able to be on their feet for at least 3 hours, bend and lift up to 30 lbs.

Tuesdays have two shifts:

1st: 9:00 am - 11:30 am

2nd: 11:30 am - 2:00 pm


Wednesday and Friday:

9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Our sorting volunteers play a vital role in ensuring that donated food is safe and ready for distribution. Tasks include:

Inspecting food: Following guidelines from USDA, Health Department and Community Food Bank Food Safety, volunteers will check expiration dates and ensure items are in good condition amongst other requirements, before distributing to publicSorting food: Categorizing food items by type, sorting out any damaged or expired itemsSchedule: Tuesday and Wednesday ( refer below for days and times)

Requirements:

Physical ability: Must be able to stand for at least 3-4 hours and lift/move up to 30 pounds

Flexibility: Must be willing to work in a variety of conditions, including a walk-in cooler

Schedule :

Court-Ordered Community Service

Attention: This opportunity is specific for COURT ORDERED community service. 

Volunteers are welcome at the Community Food Bank to fulfill court-mandated community service hours. Community Service volunteers must be 16 or older; furthermore, we do not accept volunteers who have been charged with violent offenses such as domestic violence, assault, sexual harassment, sexual abuse, disorderly conduct, armed robbery, or aggravated assault. For more information, questions, requirements, or to schedule court-ordered volunteer shifts, please contact our team below.

Dress code: 

Comfortable, closed-toe and closed–heel shoes, no sandals. Food-safe clothing: Shirts must cover armpits, abdomen, and chest (no tank tops) Shorts should not be too tight or too short

 All volunteers must be aware of and uphold the safety expectations below in order to volunteer. Note: no lockers for storing personal items are available -- please leave in your vehicle or at home.
